One of the most challenging situations an NHL player can encounter is falling out of favour with their head coach. Head coaches continually evaluate their roster, and, with the assistance of their coaching staff, their primary objective is to field the best possible team to win the upcoming game.

Over the past four games, Morgan Frost, who secured a tricky negotiation in the offseason resulting in a $4.2 million contract extension over the next two years, has faced issues. The problem is that Tortorella has chosen not to include him in the lineup, citing his failure to perform at the expected level and the superior performance of others.
This scenario can befall any player, especially on a rebuilding franchise like the Flyers. Often, players who have been with the organization for several years either become complacent, believing they are irreplaceable or face roster limitations as the team flourishes with young talent that forces the removal of other players.

It appears that Tortorella genuinely wishes for Frost to return to his lineup. However, with the Flyers on a winning streak, he seems unwilling to assign Frost to a checking role and prefers an offensive one.
It seems Frost will have to wait for his opportunity, whether it arises due to an injury or an improvement in practice that changes Tortorella's mind.
Time will reveal whether Frost will make a comeback to the lineup, or if General Manager Danny Briere will need to review his contract and explore opportunities for him elsewhere.
