Travis Konecny Has Surpassed Superstars in Goals - But a Big Issue May be Brewing
25 year-old Travis Konecny has hit with 24 goal and 46 point mark, to put that into comparison: Konecny's best season was in 2019-20 where he posted up 61 points in a 82 game season. Konecny is just 36 games into this year and has already tallied up 46 points, just 15 points away from passing his career-high total with 46 games left.
Konecny's goal total (24) surpasses many NHL superstars such as Auston Matthews, Sidney Crosby, John Tavares, Leon Draisaitl and many others making an insane amount of salary per year, and they all have more games than Konecny due to him missing time to an injury.
Konecny is currently on a $5.5 million annual contract until the 2025-26 season comes to an end, where he will require a HUGE pay raise. Based off of the current market of contracts recently handed out and Konecny's point total, he could expect upwards of double his contract, leaning towards $9 million plus.
Will Chuck Fletcher be willing to hand out a big contract like that? Hopefully by 2025-26 Fletcher is gone from the organization, because many expect their to be issues with Konecny lasting in Philly under Chuck Fletcher, as he may look to trade Konecny away for assets, to help prepare for the future.
