The Flyers have started their new season with a bang, boasting a tidy 3-1-0 record. The team has been delivering solid performances in all aspects of their game, especially in goal, with Carter Hart providing fantastic performances thus far.

While the team enjoys its early success, one player stands out with several questions attached to his name, and that player is Morgan Frost. Frost has been benched in the last two games because he hasn't played up to the level Head Coach John Tortorella is looking for.
"Frosty just needs to play better," Tortorella said, as quoted by The Athletic. "And, quite honestly... Frosty, I don't think, has played poorly. Others have simply played better, so that's a good thing."

These comments suggest that Frost has taken a step backward rather than forward, despite just signing a new two-year contract extension worth $4.2 million. There was some discussion about what the contract would look like as these questions arose.

Torts went on to say he will not lose a player simply because one guy was a little less than the other . He will work with the player in question to see if he can teach him better habits.
«If one young guy plays a good game and another one who sat out really didn't play poorly his last game, I'm not going to lose that guy,» Tortorella said. «It's too important for us to find out information on players as we go through this year, with some of the youth here.»

Frost had a solid campaign last year, playing 81 games, and scoring 19 goals with 27 assists for 46 points. According to thefourthperiod.com, several league sources mentioned that the Flyers were considering trading Frost as they believed he could generate interest from other teams.
It seemed that the Montreal Canadiens and the Ottawa Senators were interested in the Barrie, ON, forward, but they found the price tag "too high" to consider.
According to multiple league sources, the Flyers dangled Frost as trade bait in the off-season, as TFP reported at the time, but the price tag was considered «too high.» Several teams, including the Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators, expressed interest and there is the belief that some teams recently made inquiries about his availability.

Tyson Foerster and Bobby Brink have been making strong cases to Tortorella, expressing their desire to remain with the Flyers throughout the season, which has put additional pressure on Frost to improve.
If this benching continues or if his performance does not improve, the Flyers will likely have no choice but to consider a trade to find Frost a new home, especially considering his cap hit.
