Conor Geekie is a guy many aren't talking about in this year's draft class. This is odd despite his 6'4, 205 lbs frame. Here's a player that many are calling a sleeper pick. A potential top 10 pick who could fall in the draft or be taken top 5.

With the 5th pick many fans have been shouting Logan Cooley or Juraj Slafkovsky or even Matthew Savoie. But not many talk about Geekie, brother of Seattle Kraken player Morgan Geekie and teammate of Savoie's.
If we look at his consolidated rankings via Eliteprospects, it averages out to him being drafted at the 15th overall spot. He could go as high as 8th overall or as low as 31st.
In 63 games with the Winnipeg Ice this year, Geekie has 70 points and 24 goals. And although he was beaten for points by Savoie, Bedard etc, it's his size and personality that has many scouts, journalists and fans excited about his potential.

He's big and skilled with an amazing eye for the right play in the offensive zone. He has great hockey IQ and can shoot very well. Not hard to see why some believe he can become a dominant center in the NHL who has that intimidating grit factor. Something the Flyers desperately need.
The hate on Geekie however, comes from his skating ability. He is not by all means a great skater and some say in the new fast NHL, that will be his downfall. However, that is something with the right development, he can improve on. His hockey skills and hands are not.
On the 32 thoughts podcast, Marek says that while interviewing kids for background info and to make pre-draft montages, Geekie made a great first impression.
"He's a really personable guy. He's your quintessential dude. Really good hockey player, gonna be a first round draft pick make no mistake about it, infectious personality."

He likened Geekie's spontaneous personality to another prospect from the 2019 draft, Cole Caufield.
"The guy thats just a happy dude, is up for the challenge and isn't afraid of having the spotlight on him and having people watch him."
