While Philadelphia Flyers fans are getting amped up for the start of training camp which is just around the corner, the team was hit with some bad news. Flyers star forward Sean Couturier has had a setback as he re-injured the medial collateral ligament in his right knee that he hurt in last year's playoffs. According to Flyers general manager Ron Hextall the injury happened August 10th during an offseason exhibition game. He also stated that it's not a "re-injury". Hextall labelled it a freak accident and said Couturier should be able to join the team midway during the preseason. "He was participating in a game, kind of an innocent play, and things happen," Hextall said. "It was just kind of a play in front of the net and it was a rebound and his leg just went the wrong way."
While Hextall stated it shouldn't be a problem, it can be worrisome that Couturier was able to aggravate the injury during a simple exhibition game, hopefully the Flyers forward is 100% the next he hits the ice.
