The Philadelphia Flyers and general manager Ron Hextall announced a signing on Sunday. The team has come to terms on a one year deal with 37 year old free agent goalie Ilya Bryzgalov. With the Flyers on and off again injury problems between the pipes this season, Hextall decided to sign a well rested veteran goalie to lead them into the playoffs. Bryzgalov last played in the NHL during the 2014-15 season and put up a 1-4-1 record along with a 4.19 goals against average and a .847 save percentage. He has a career 221-162-54 record along with a 2.58 goals against average and .912 save percentage. "Mr. Universe" had signed with the Flyers back in June of 2011 and eventually would be bought out in June of 2013 with seven years remaining on his contract. He did put up some numbers for the Flyers but his stay in Philly was mostly highlighted by his solar system talk during HBO's 24/7 series and his comments regarding Sergei Bobrovsky starting the NHL Winter Classic. Due to a loophole in the CBA, Bryzgalov will be able to dress for the remainder of the season and play during the playoffs if he makes the roster.
