For the second time in 10 days, the Flyers are in DC to take on the Capitals as they look to improve to 3-0-0 against the Metropolitan Division leaders this season. A win in regulation tonight will put the Flyers into third place in the division and just five points behind the Capitals.
Claude Giroux looks to continue his career long success versus Washington tonight. He as 18 goals and 36 points in 35 games against the Caps including two goals and four points in two games this season.
The Flyers look to close out a very successful month of January as the are 8-3-0 in 2018. In kind of a weird fact, all three of those loses have come by a 5-1 score.
Dave Hakstol has decided to change up his lines a bit coming out of the All-Star break. Nolan Patrick will move up to the second line tonight, centering Jakub Voracek and Wayne Simmonds. The new third line will feature Valterri Filppula in between Jordan Weal and Michael Raffl.
Travis Konecny will remain on the top line as he is riding a four-game goal streak and five-game point streak, which includes the overtime game winner versus the Capitals back on January 21. In his last 13 games, Konecny has six goals and 12 points with four of those goals being game winners.
Heading into the All-Star break, the Capitals earned points in eight of their last 10 games, going 6-2-2 over that span. They are currently 18-7-1 on home ice this season.
