The Philadelphia Flyers and Buffalo Sabres will meet for the first time this season tonight and will conclude their season series with two more games against each other over the next three weeks.
Even though the Sabres have the fewest points in the Eastern Conference, they enter tonight's game playing their best hockey of the season, just like the Flyers. While the Flyers come in winners of their last four games, Buffalo is currently riding a four game point streak going 2-0-2 during that span.
The Flyers have won three out their last four games versus Buffalo, including the last two at the Wells Fargo Center. The last time they met in Philadelphia, the Flyers erased a 3-0 third period deficit to beat the Sabres 4-3 in a shootout.
Tonight will be Michael Raffl's 300th NHL game. The veteran forward has been playing great of late with five goals and eight points in his last nine games after going the first 21 games of the season with no points.
Brian Elliott will make his fifth straight start in goal tonight. Injured goaltender Michal Neuvirth skated this morning, but there is still no timetable for his return to the active roster.
